A Love Letter

Dear YOU,

As humans, we are plagued by the complexities of this world. One of the many things that I find difficult to understand is that we get into more trouble saying “I LOVE YOU” than “I HATE YOU” and that the courage needed to express positive affirmation is equivalent to that of what’s required to jump off a moving train or dive into the ocean’s immeasurable depths. I wouldn’t just jump off from anywhere and I can’t fucking swim, but one thing scares me more than anything else: Regret. Love overcomes a lot of things but in my experience, fear can be the bigger bitch. I am afraid to NOT love. I’m afraid of unspoken words and things left undone. I am afraid of regret, the things it can do to me, and the things it can make me do.

I believe that we’re all born with a common purpose- to love each other. Love is the driving force of the universe. It is as infinite as the grace of God. There’s so much of love to go around forever; we can give it without restrictions- in the right ways. It is just a matter of choice. If we leave the courage to love bottled up inside us, we defeat our purpose. If we love only our family, our lovers, our friends, then we would have wasted our lives. My life is precious to me so I’ve made a choice. I choose to love someone for every second God gives me. I have chosen to love you. I have chosen this way to tell you to ease any kind of confusion.

So there. I love you. It is the truth that makes me brave.

I love you. It may not be exactly the kind of love that you hope to have or what you so need at this point in your life, but it’s what I have for you and I’m giving it for free- showing it in my own ways.

I love you even though we’ve only known each other for a little while.

I love you because of what you are, what you’re not, and what you want to be.

I love you because you make me smile.

I love you for the effort that you give to forge the kind of bond that we have.

I love you because your presence in my life for God’s reasons helps me understand a little bit of His grand plan.

I love you and I wish you all the best that life has to offer.

I love you and I want you to be happier than you’ve ever imagined you’d be.

I love you though I’m uncertain of the true meaning of love itself.

I love you because you are you.

You are wonderful.

All my love,
Hencel Lauren
